Thanks for the logs Charles! Just a question: do you have any other
packages or applications that require the `gnome-settings-daemon`
package? This is the culprit for the upgrade failing based on what I can
see. Removing that should allow you to proceed, as that should also
allow for APT to remove the mutter-common package.

I'm looking at introducing a fix for this in the upgrader overall as it
seems that if some GNOME components are installed without any associated
metapackages, the libmutter-14-0 library does not transition correctly.
