Ok just tried to do the same thing I did back on 14.04, and I can't get
the lag problem that I had on vokoscreen to replicate.
simplescreenrecorder is a good backup solution if something goes wrong
with vokoscreen but right now the latter
has more features and easier to use, for most use cases. That is my
current opinion at least.
