Thanks John for your useful feedback. There have been a couple of similar suggestions (or at least in that direction) in the translators list. This would require non-trivial development work in Launchpad, i.e. implementing a new feature. As with other technical requests, if you've got any further ideas regarding the implementation, I'd suggest opening a separate thread either in ubuntu-translators or launchpad-dev and take it from there.
