ok I had the same story once when I wanted to remove ubuntu to repartition
my space and install it again, but I couldn't remove GRUB, but it was still
usable to boot windows untill I did the partitioning thing, then things
became messy

try booting ubuntu from a live cd and run grub uninstall from a terminal,
but I can't be sure of something like that

the thing is, windows' bootloader is usually installed in the C itself,
while GRUB installs itself on the MBR directly, so even if you use a windows
recovery CD, it'll tell you that your windows boot is clean, now you have 2
options

The easy one: if GRUB boots your pc with no errors 4get it and keep working

The hard one: remove grub manually using a boot cd or something by using a
fixmbr command or clean MBR, then use a windows recovery disc to make sure
it'll boot
