Thanks to everyone who responded. I will try to find the drain plug to get as much of the old fluid out as possible. The cooler lines look like they may be tricky to remove since they have been in place for so long. However, there is no use pulling the drain plug if I'm not going to do the cooler too. Unfortunately it looks like the plug is on the outboard side which will add some difficulty due to ease of access. The transmission seems to shift slightly harder than the opposite side but I'm not sure if this is a significant amount. However, I have some occassional difficulty with shifting out of gear which may correspond to what Den mentioned. I can't remember if this occurred with just one transmission or both; I attributed it to play in the shift cables but maybe that wasn't the case. The boat is out of the water for the season so I can't check this now. Flushing the transmission sounds like a good idea but i'm not sure the best approach to that, overfill with fluid then immediately drain?
