Hi Joe and everybody else,
Ad-Aware is great. In the Inquirer Tech section and a whole host of other places that I’ve seen, those “in the know” have suggested running both Ad-Aware and another freebie, Spybot-Search & Destroy. (Lovely name, eh?)
Anyway, here’s the links to both Ad-Aware and Spybot for anyone on the listserv who’s interested:

Ad-Aware <http://www.download.com/3000-2144-10045910.html?part=69274&subj=dlpage&tag=button>
Wishing you all freedom from all kinds of nasty “ware”.

Recently I found an extra toolbar appearing on my internet explorer. It turned out to have been installed by a GAIN publishing piece of invasive software. I found this to be creepy and was really angered by it. I installed some free adware which eventually removed it. Has anyone else on this list experienced this problem? The free software, which was recommended by a tech support person, is Ad-Aware SE personal.
