My point is those who originally formed the UCNeighbors listserv did so because they did not want to hear arguments from people who continually disagreed with their view of how this community should evolve and wanted a means to block and censure those they deemed unwanted/unfit for their new listserv, which in and of itself is a form of hostility. It seems to suggest that some of us neighbors are superior to others.
Wilma. I don't know of anyone who is "gung ho" about any such initiatives. Many of us see good and bad in such things. And because we do this, it's _we_ who are labelled as appeasers, cowards, suckups, and racists because we don't simply yell "Penn sucks!" and denounce it all as evil gentrifying corporate malevolence.

The people who formed UCneighbors are, frankly, fed up with the crummy and hostile level of discussion that's emerged on this list. It's become tiressome, useless, and needlessly dispiriting. Yet you call setting up another list an "act of hostility."

I think you have this _exactly backward_.
