Double clicking the folder brings up the password box but it won't accept the right password! I've tried my own username and password, and I've tried root and its password but it won't accept them, and I'm at a loss to know why.
SMB uses an other encryption method than Linux. I think you'll have to use something like smbpasswd to store your password in a format that samba does understand. Do some googling and you should find more information (haven't done this for years...).
