I did issue an apt-get update, again, i'm very new to linux so a lot of this doesn't make sense to me (haha, I even have a EE degree)! I believe I was getting an error when I ran "apt-get install", so I used synaptics to only install the 18 new packages from universe, and not install the slimserver, after which "apt-get install slimserver" still gave me errors above. Last time I ran an apt-get update it said (paraphrased) 0 new packages, 0 new updates.... BTW, slimserver shows up in synaptics, but also fails to install due to the dependencies not being installable.
