Aaaagh, I'm going under! It's going to take me weeks to do enough reading to understand what I'm into here. So if I understand, the RPM is no good to me with the Ubuntu distro - maybe I should switch to a Redhat distro for ease of use?(with Slimserver, anyway) My CLI days are way behind me (hard to believe its been 15 years since I've used one on a regular basis), and I'm not going to learn new languages very easily at my age!
BTW, what I have is an LTS release (Dapper Drake), which means Long-Term-Support - sort of a high-end 'enterprise-ready' release that should be pretty stable I understand. Thanks for the tips so far - so should I switch to Redhat (or variant), or no?
