Manual reboots do solve the problem (I thought I mentioned this earlier
but may not have). i.e. it's broken, then I reboot, then it's not
broken anymore. So I'm just automating an existing manual process that
I do when SlimServer dies right now. It doesn't necessarily PREVENT the
problem, but it does solve it.

My slimserver log is in /tmp (SuSE default). /var and /tmp are on the
same / partition, so I believe it's a wash either way.

Any changes in convert.conf were done via the web GUI, so I would hope
that's safe. Basically I've just disabled native Ogg decoding to work
around a known sync bug, so it transcodes to FLAC. Everything else is
default.

I'm sensing from your (very helpful) information so far that we truly
are looking at some mystery process filling up the / partition (through
spamming /tmp or /var/log or whatever). So far, no indication of who
the culprit is, but I'm looking. My server has been obnoxiously
well-behaved for the past few days, so there's nothing to see.
