I'm quite open to the idea that we have more than one problem going on simultaneously here.
Some more information, if it's relevant. I do all network testing wired. If wireless is flaky, well, use wired. That's what it's there for. The packets were indeed from 255.255.255.255, which made me think someone was spewing junk on the network. But very targeted at the desktop, which seemed odd. That's what drove me to check the NICs--perhaps the desktop was spamming itself? The router could definitely be dying though. It's old, it locks up a few times a year, and I'm basically just holding off on upgrading it for upgrade strategy reasons (I want to wait before I get a wireless-N router, which will replace my wireless-G router, which will replace the Linksys wired router). The laptop is a museum piece. The desktop is a few years old. The server is a few weeks old. I'll run memtest on all three and see what I get. -- CatBus ------------------------------------------------------------------------ CatBus's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=7461 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=34229 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/unix
