using Ubuntu 7.10 - I have been using the reference version of
dBpoweramp under wine to rip to FLAC, and it has been working very
well. I appreciate its use of AMG, automatic fetching of album art and
composer information, etc. I have also been using dBpoweramp for
resampling 96 and 88.2 kHz files to 48 KHz for SB3 playback. For fixing
tags afterwards, should anything need fixing - I have been using
Mp3tag.

SoundKonverter does a very good job also, and if I had not come from a
background and well-developed habit after ripping approximately a
thousand CDs in dBpoweramp, I would probably just use that.
