Ripfactory supplied a script that installed faad and modified the convert.conf file (and this seems to be correct from what I can see on the slim wiki). The aac file are on the ripserver (it IS the network drive). Faad is producing output because you can hear music, it just stutters very badly and there are synchronisation problems (the controller display not being in synch with the music output).
