Rather than trying to brute-force the setting in the config file, have you tried setting the hostname for SC in the preferences on SoftSqueeze? There are a series of little buttons in the upper-left of the player when it comes up. 2nd from the left of those is the preferences button. Not sure if that will work better than manually editing the config file, but it's worked for me. :)
