I've considered this. I'm not sure what software I wouldn't be able to get "back" if I reinstalled the standard version of Ubuntu over what Dell provided, but presumably it would take me a while to manually install a bunch of software programs. Other than that, the other downside is it would be some sort of service/warranty void I expect...
