Hello, I played a bit more with the database generation and from what I can see there are 2 ways to make sure that the database is sorted properly (i.e. the way I want the artists to be sorted): 1. remove all the MUSICBRAINZ_SORTNAME from each file. 2. make sure that all files also contain a properly written SORTNAME tag.
I made a few tests and it looks as if always the SORTNAME is taken when I have both tags, i.e. a MUSICBRAINZ_SORTNAME and a SORTNAME tag. I guess I can handle both cases with a shell script fairly easily, though removing is certainly easier. Currently I don't see any problem in removing the MUSICBRAINZ_SORTNAME all together but maybe I'm missing something. Might I need that some time in the future? Any recommendations? >>>>> "aubuti" == aubuti >>>>> <[email protected]> writes: aubuti> aubuti> snarlydwarf;519531 Wrote: >> Yes, there is also an ALBUMARTIST one, which MusicBrainz sets and some >> recent revision of SBS (was it in 7.4.1?) supports. aubuti> There is also ALBUMSORT, which can be useful if you want something aubuti> different from SBS's various ways of sorting albums. Not sure I understand the implications. Does that mean that the SBS might ignore my ARTIST tags and use the ALBUMSORT in some cases? If so, when? BTW while playing with the database I ran into more problems, but maybe it's better if I start separate threads for each problem.
