Many thanks for your reply and a helpful one at that.  I've learnt
something I thought it didn't matter what state your drives were in to
create and array but as most people keep saying I don't need to use
Raid but if that is the case how do I get a Music folder to cover 1.5TB
or more of music I'm want to load into the music folder.

My comment about where had the space gone in NTFS a 1TB drive when
formatted leaves 931GB of space not 870GB of space when formatted with
EXT4 I think that was what it was labelled  as.

Good point about the OS drive and I’m not sure if that could be causing
problems for me because obviously the Music folder is in that drive
hence it only showing 212GB of available space for the Music folder.

I do hope installing and getting Squeezebox to work on this system is
going to be easier to resolve.
