Lvm, jointfs, etc... It is usefull in datacenters. When it breaks, there are people paid to fix it and sometimes, they have hard time to do so. At home a 3tb disk realy would make your live easy. But again, it's only if you have a music library bigger than 1tb ! Depends what's your first priority: play with linux or listen to music. Also consider the power saving of running one less disk, that makes the cost of a new bigger disk close to nothing and you keep the old ones for backups.
