Ubuntu behaves in a similar way when automounting USB drives ,
especially when they are in non linux file systems like fat32 or ntfs
.
A way is to actually not automount but have them in fstab, where you
can have some controll and it gets even more comfortable if the drives
are in ext3 or similar format.
