A) root can _always_ read/write _any_ files B) yes and yes. The "-R" option on chown tells the chown command to act recursively through the folders. The find command automatically recurses to lower level folders. Being wary about these things is healthy. You may want to experiment on a _copy_ of a small branch of your music library to satisfy yourself that these do what you want. Or do it on a backup copy (you do have a backup, right?) that you can easily replicate in case something goes wrong. I forgot to mention earlier that the commands I gave have to be run by user 'george' (assuming george already owns those files and folders) or by root. -- aubuti ------------------------------------------------------------------------ aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=89807 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
