I'm really not the authority on this (and this is an understatement), but I remember, so long ago, when I bought that $30 usb - analog converter made by Griffin, audio was so much better than the one coming out of the integrated audio card. I suppose it relates to the inside of the computer being particularly noisy.
Plus, you don't want to take up valuable PCI space in the Microserver. Plus, if one day the LMS server is made into a VM, you will be able the capture the USB port and device in the VM, but not a PCI card on that machine (AFAIK, due to the chipset used in the microserver.)
