I tried "sudo passwd" but it seems this command is for changing the root
password, not the user account.

As for my DAC, it is the HifiMeDiy Sabre USB DAC. It works
out-of-the-box as the default output with with no configuration
necessary! I ran it continuously for at least eight hours today using
PiCore v.1.0 (ALSA 80:4) and was very pleased with the output. I then
updated to 1.0.5 and started to experience fairly regular pops about
every 10 to 30 seconds. After restarting LMS, the pops went away but I
will keep an eye on things. I previously ran RaspyFi and experienced a
lot of popping/clicking and even full-on dropouts so this is a huge
improvement so far. I added my comment to your DAC database.

As for the WiFi, I'm glad the Ralink drivers are now included. It
shouldn't be too much more work to get it running. I found that this
particular chipset was problematic even with the full-featured Raspbian
build. I was unable to connect to my network with the wicd_gui that
seems to work for most dongles. Eventually I got it working by manually
tweaking /etc/network/interfaces and
/etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf. It would be nice to figure out
how to do that in Tiny Core but I am a total Linux noob and Tiny Core is
much less documented than standard Raspberry Pi stuff so I'm pretty
stone-walled at this point.

Thanks!
