I am also interested in adding extra features to my piCorePlayer using
the GPIO and a couple of other modules like python, lirc and lcdproc,
but I'm having a hard time working out where to start with Tiny Core
Linux.

I've had a look through the Tiny Core Linux FAQ and worked out how to
install additional packages using tce-load, however soon I discovered
that there are plenty for x86 but not many packages compiled for the
Raspberry Pi right now.

Tried to install the Tiny Core Linux build essentials to have a crack at
creating the packages myself but quickly ran out of space in the small
piCorePlayer partition.

I'm a hardware engineer that dabbles in software not a software engineer
that dabbles in hardware, so any simple guide on how to set up a build
environment so I can roll my own piCorePlayer using a larger partition
would be appreciated.

Or is that even the right way to go about it?
