Could you try "squeezelite-i386-test" which is on the download page? 
This is compiled with _FORTIFY_SOURCE disabled, which I believe removes
the dependency on glib 2.15 when build on ubuntu.  (I don't really want
to do this, but its easier than having a debian vm to build it on)
