My friend first tested Linux Mint on his Windows streamer hardware.
Linux Mint also had issues with his W4S Dac. He needed to install some
software in order to get it to work.
But with CSOS it works out of the box. The name of the driver in CSOS is
named YOUNG.

Some time ago, we auditioned a few dacs at this friends house. The W4S
DAC-2 and the Audiolab M-DAC turned out to be very close in terms of
sound quality. The consensus among the listeners was that the M-DAC was
slightly better (slightly better bass control). But again, the
difference was very minor. Both of these DAC's use the same ESS dac
chip.
