Dear Triode,
i spent time playing my growing collection of DSD files (.dsf that are
tagged) as DoP (native DSD processing by DAC) or allowing squeezelite to
convert to 176.4 kHz PCM and did not hear any difference. ... but as
typical volume levels on DSD is 3-6 (peaks) lower then on usual PCM
files that means i need to adjust the volume too often.
As squeezelite conversion from DSD to PCM is really really good and
takes no serious CPU (core i3, 3ghz) i would love to be able to apply
replaygain to DSD data. That is technically possible but i believe
squeezelite disables replaygain once it figures out its playing dsd file
(even when converting to PCM). I have tagged my .DSF files with
replaygain tags via foobar so data is there ... only feature missing
would be 'Use replaygain data when available with DSD files as well when
converting to PCM'.

That would allow me to listen to my entire collection without resorting
to volume control when DSD's are playing !!!

Could you see how that could be implemented ?

Again, thanks for doing just an amazing job with squeezelite so far !!!

gaha
