On the question of Samba I don't need it as I am using a networked drive for storage but I can understand why people feel they need it. If for example you are using a PC or Mac to rip CDs the easiest method of adding the resultant files to LMS is to point the ripping software to a mapped drive via SMB The same applies to mp3tag and the like.
Using SCP or WinSCP doesn't provide the same flexibility and nor will FTP. If you were to find a tagging error in an album are you really going to copy the file(s) back to a PC, fix them and then put them back again. I know LMS on PCP is relatively new but the lack of a Samba share access is a serious omission in comparison to m2p. That said everything else about PCP is better IMHO. As I said it doesn't matter to me so just my 2p. *Vortexbox LMS 7.9 music on QNAP TS419p via NFS* iThingys/iPeng/Tablets *Living Room* - SB3 -> Onkyo TS606 - > Celestion Ditton F20s - Zone 2 -> Sony TA FE 320 -> Sennheiser RS 130 & B&W P7 *Office* - RPi -> Sony TA FE320 -> Celestion F10s / SB3 -> Onkyo CRN 755 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes *Dining Room* -> SB Boom *Kitchen* -> UE Radio (upgraded to SB Radio) *Bedroom (Bedside)* - SB Touch -> Topping TP21 -> AKG Headphones *Bedroom (TV)* - Amazon Fire TV (SB Player) -> Topping TP20 -> Wharfedale Modus Cubes ------------------------------------------------------------------------ d6jg's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=44051 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105018 _______________________________________________ unix mailing list [email protected] http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/unix
