Nancy, I too have lurked on this list until, overcome with curiosity, I recently decided to try install OSX on my 7300 with Sonnet Crescendo G3/512, 328 megs of non- interleaved RAM (2-128 meg Sonnet and a mixture of 8, 16, and 32 meg RAM of all ages and makes ) I had previously installed a MacSense 2 port USB PCI card into which was plugged an Iomega CD burner and a SanDisk Flashcard reader. A second card (Sonnet IDE/ATA 100 host adapter and a 40 GIg Maxtor hard drive was also installed. The 7300 retains the original 2.1 Gig SCSI and 8XCD.
My initial attempt failed when I tried the OSX installer from Sonnet getting nothing but Kernel Panics. I then re- formatted the drive and used that wonderful application ExPostFacto ( 2.2b1) and the installation went without a hitch on to an 8Gig partition on the Maxtor drive. The 8 Gig partition is necessary even with the IDE/ATA 100 host adapter. I am happy to report also that OSX also recognized both the CD burner and FlashCard reader. Based on my experience I'd say " go for it. " Should you experience problems this is a great list to get lots of good advice.
