Nancy, Welcome to the Unsupported OSX list! It's always nice to have
another friendly helpful person on board.
Chances are your ram will be fine. If you do have problems with it
the first thing to try would be to de-interleave it.The fact that it
is now running interleaved means it is working well.If it was weak or
otherwise funky that would be the first thing to go. There is a
website that helps you figure out what type ram you have based on the
numbers and trademarks on the chips . I had good luck doing this.
Don't have the website in front of me but can lookup if some one
wants it.
All three companies currently making G3/4 upgrades are doing a good
job IMHO. The funky companies are gone and some good ones. Having
said that XLR8 is perhaps the best at running with mixed ram types
and Sonnet is middle of the road on that issue . Powerlogix some of
their cards can be very picky about ram types but not as picky as the
Newertech cards.
As far as SCSI items. My J700 Umax has a Zip drive, EZFlyer SyQuest
230mb,and Yamaha CDRW drive hooked to it. I to wondered about them
but they all work fine in OSX. In fact I can burn CD's using the
updated Toast 5 or the built in disk burner or iTunes! I also have a
scanner but haven't tried it not sure if there are drivers or not.
I just looked over your other post and I belive chances are good that
all your stuff will work fine in OSX once you get the kinks worked
out;-)
The things currently keeping me from running OSX full time. My Epson
printer has no drivers for OSX ( a curse on Epson!). I also have to
clear off my ATA drive and don't seem to be able to find the time for
such a boring job and it's a 30gb drive. OSX is on my old and small
SCSI drve that came with the machine when it was new. It is way
slower then the ATA drive but still runs OSX really well. Will S
