I'm pretty sure about this too.  The Classic Mac OS just searches for 
the String "system folder" labeling a subdirectory.  With just a finder 
and a suitcase, you can "bless" any subdirectory with a little luck.

There is a problem I had the other day though.  When you have two 
subdirectories both with system software, on the same partition, only 
one of them will be blessed.  You can boot from either, but only the one 
that has booted will be blessed.  Just in case you run into further 
trouble, Wilton.
