The comments that you can replace your 9.2x suitcase through the Installation
Tomes are false. If you look at these tomes, there is no system suitcase in
there. Somehow, the suitcase is the only dynamic piece of the system software
that does NOT come in whole from the tomes. It is dynamically generated somehow.

With the older system softwares, you were able to drag out the system suitcase,
but for some reason or another, they took away this "power" option in the late
OSs (8 and 9) and force you to install it. Probably just to make it that much
more hard to screw up your system or something or to make sure you install it
the way that Apple wants you to.

What you will need to do is do a real basic system install. If you have a
partition open, install to that. If not, you need decide where you want to put
this super basic system install. The goal here is to get the suitcase, since it
cannot be had by the tome archives.

Once you select your destination disk, do a customized install. In the
customized install screen, deselect EVERYTHING but the first option, Mac OS 9.1
this is where the suitcase is. Go to the pop-up menu for Mac OS 9.1 and select
customized install. De-select everything but core system software. This will
install the minimum that will allow the system to boot. It will not seriously
clutter wherever you decide to install this "base" OS 9.1 to. After reboot,
find the suitcase, replace the "bad" one and you're done.
