Hello, I had Sonnet Crescendo G3/300Mhz card that were not working properly with more than 100 MB RAM (crashed). Sonnet had agree to replace it when we tried all the tricks. They replaced it with 400 MHz version with 512 KB cache. First time I booted and ran two programs HD directory get messed and HD died. From that moment I was not able to boot from any HD I have. With 8.6, 9.1, 9.2 and X 10.1. It hangs even booting from CD. I got freezes durring all possible parts of booting, bombs with system bus error and others. In OS X in very begining I saw kernel panic. I can not say what it was ecaxtly. I'm not sitting at the right machine now but will specify that later. What I remember is that there was Unresolved kernel trap(cpu 0). Whether there is any specific information that would help from panic message I will write it down exactly.
But can anybody say that problem is in my machine or card generaly? It's PM 7500, 128 MB/no L2 cache/1GB SCSI drive + others. Nothing else tham modem attached durring test. With orriginal Apple 100 MHz 601 card is no problem. Can be there anything in machine that could harm the card in few minutes?
