It amazes me how we get spoiled. I am included, as I am spoiled
too. But I ran unix on a 2MHz 6809, a 0.2 MIP machine maybe, and
a VAX, at 1 MIP, was stunningly fast. The 7500 is what, a 100 MIP
machine? I have a 500MHz G3 and a 500Mhz K6 and am wishing for
something faster. And the Windows heads at work whine that their
1.6GHz P4 is slower with W2K than NT4.

But, I concur. I would not want to run X on a 601.
