This was a nightmare for me to figure out. Here is what worked for me.
1. installed Security update 10-19-01
2.Installer update (300k size)
3. This let me do the OSX Combo update 10.1.5
4.iTunes 3.0    
5. Security update 7-18-02 then showed up in software update so 
installed
After this software update was back in business with lots of downloads 
showing up. Including the 8-2-02 Security update.
1-4 steps were done by downloading needed software from Apple site.
