I think you can, assuming you didn't do major modifications to it. I 
once loaded OS 10.1 on an external SCSI drive attached to a modestly 
upgraded 7500 (128 MB  RAM, 180MHz 604e). I then attached that drive 
to another, more upgraded 7500/G3 and a highly upgraded 8500/G4 and 
it worked fine.

However, Carbon Copy Cloning it to a faster internal SCSI drive on 
the 8500 did not work for some reason. I've heard CCC doesn't work 
well with Old World Macs, so check into that more.
