I just got a Promise ATA / 66 PCI card in the mail from someone on the swap list. I popped it into my 7600 based G3 upgraded machine and booted into OS9.1 via my 1 gig SCSI drive in there. At first the Western Digital 40 gig drive did not show up. SCSI probe showed it was there on a third bus. The Apple System Profiler saw it as a SCSI device.
What can I do about this? I posted a question here asking about the compatibility of these Promise cards and I was told "they work just fine". Am I doing something wrong? I used the latest version of Drive Setup that I had--OS 9.1's.
Did you update the card with the OSX update for the VST UltraTek/66 available from OWC? If the card still has the earlier firmware on board, it is not yet compatible with OSX.
