Kris, I hear your pain! I was about 2 minutes behind you in being ready to throw in the towel myself, and last night was trash night...
I was experiencing a lot of the same problems that you described, and a few others as well, after upgrading to 10.2.8 - attempting to print caused any open app. to quit instantly, and PS7 and acrobat just flipped out.
What fixed it for me>? Well................... Disk Warrior 3X !
Last night I had been reading another online forum where they were discussing disk warrior. I thought what the heck, would be nice to run it just to see if it could shed some light - I've never used it before. So I procured a copy of DW3X and had it examine all my HD's. what it said was that the directories on all the drives resembled warring factions hell bent on self destruction, the majority of the custom icon bits were either off or wrong, and that some of my drives were fragmented by over 50% - eek! Some other problems also, but I can't remember exactly what it said. So I had DW fix everything, and then rebuild and replace the directories. It was the magic pill. System performance is way better than before I even had all these problems. Toast 6 is burning everything I throw at it at full throttle (wow). Today I did house cleaning on all the drives- something I had been putting off for a long time. I consolidated files and folders between the drives, trashed files and folders that were duplicated on multiple drives, got rid of all the useless stuff that I had DL'd in the last 6 months and will never ever use, and then ran DW a second time on all the drives.
HTH.
