My favorite thing about zend that I really haven't been able to find
in other IDEs is you can edit on a remote server, lots of other IDEs
allow you to edit locally then publish or upload it up to your
server, but Zend actually ftps when you save so you can view your
changes instantly.
If I understand you correctly, PhpED also has this functionality.
PhpED's remote file functionality is really nice. And I really like
the SVN integration as well. Oh, and just to be thorough, it also
supports CVS natively.

Ya, I was trying out PhpED today for the first time, I was able to hook
up a remote connection using ssh+ftp and then create a project that used
these files, but the problem I had was that it then downloaded the
entire source from the server, then when I made changes it saved them
locally, and I had to then use the smart sync feature or the upload
feature to update the remote files, with ZDE all I have to do is hit
CTRL-S just like you would a local file and it will ftp the new file up
to the server. I might have just missed how you can do this with PhpED,
but I wasn't able to find this...
