The real people to make this very valid complaint to is Apple and Microsoft.
They are the reason why Standalone building is so complex. They are actively changing their operating systems to make it harder and harder (if not impossible) to build and app to just give to a family member without inserting them (Apple and/or Microsoft) into the loop.
