What _is_ a bit odd with RS implementation is how the hotpoint is local to a view window. Hotpoint doesn't have anything to do with a camera, as far as I can think of; camera has the focal point (whose point could be anywhere dictated along the vector given by a lookat-point in a perfect world). So, when setting the hotpoint in the topview, nothing happens as you start to do modifications/3D transformations in the front view. You'd actually have to set the front view to a top view. Snap to the correct hotpoint location. Switch back to front view, then do the modifications. Sort of strips off the functionality of a quadview setup if you ask me.
