Hi David, Yes, afaik the difference is related to the versioning. You will lose that info since it isn't in your public backup.
You may also want to delete the indexes from the repositories directory, they will get recreated when you startup Magnolia. You may also want to read http://documentation.magnolia-cms.com/administration/deployment/changing-aut hor-to-public-instance.html for information related to changing a public instance to an author instance and vice-versa.
