A link between a post and a document location is propagated
into later posts within the thread. Also, the whole thread is
displayed at the linked document location if any post within
the thread is linked there.

It may happen, for example, that a section of the document is
created that addresses some subject within a thread even after
the thread ceases to be active, in which case someone may
take on the role of editor by adding a link. Of course, if you
decided you wanted to disallow adding links to old posts,
the thread could still be pointed to the new location by adding
a new linked post to the thread.

Right now, there are three ways to create a linked post:
1. Reply to a thread that already contains a post linked to
the target location (which your new post will inherit).
2. While viewing the document with the display set to 'View linked
dialog', submit a new post from one of the 'new post' nodes
displayed in the document. The new post will automatically
be linked to the location from which the post was launched.
3. While viewing the forum, submit a new post and then click
on the 'create link to document' button, which transfers you
into document view, where 'link post here' points are displayed.
When one of these points is selected, the link is created.
Presently there's no option in the reply form to add a link as
part of submitting a post (i.e., before the post is finalized).
Maybe there should be.
