Just to clarify what I mean folks: The ML is definitely the place for making design and development decisions. And the purpose of mentors, wiki, jira, skype, hipchat or whatever else is not to replace it, but to avoid unnecessary communication in the ML. This could be things like general beginner questions that have nothing to do with the design or development of this documentation project.
