Yes, that's the idea I was floating - if you and Pedro (and others) are interested, you could contribute the CDH compatible versions and these could be bundled in our source and binary releases. The community, including yourselves, would support it (in the same way we support Phoenix today). Not sure what's involved in setting up a repo of Phoenix parcels, but perhaps that can be done on Apache infrastructure too.
