Thank you. It has also the getAnchor method with the getPreferredSize. But they return the same instance of the HSSFAnchor. Could this even be a bug in POI? We are using 3.8 BETA 5.

I have never used the getPreferredSize() method before to retrieve the image's client anchor so am not sure what it does actually return for you. In the past, it was necessary to iterate through the Escher records to get at the anchor and that was the method I always used; I simply do not know if both get you to the same information, sorry.
