Details elude me, but I do remember that a significant amount of work was undertaken on the image handling side of things for a GSOC project - I think. It may well be that the problem has been addressed during this process but I do not know that for certain; when I say 'problem' here, I mean tying the Escher records back to a specific image in the workbook. It did seem as though working with the Escher layer offerd the best opportunity to determine the images actual size.
