Thanks Tom,
Any idea how I can get at the VBA without Access? That's where I am
stuck - I thought as I can't open the Access file I can't get at the
VBA? Is there another way around this?
Thanks,
Darren

Darren:
One thing that I did not notice before, was that in their FAQ they state
it is not open source. I am not familiar enough with GPLv3 to reconcile
this statement. Someone else may be able to clarify this. It may be to
allow a user to tweak the database to their own needs and not run afoul
of copyright. So acquiring the code base alone may not be an option.
They do have contacts to address questions concerning this.

from some fairly hasty google searches it seems best to not store the
image but rather the file location for the image (I use windows vista
please don't hold it against me). Q1 - is storing the file location
possible in Base?

tell a Base form field is a file location for an image?

metadata. E.g. I want to be able to compare photos of different jaguars
to see if they are the same or not. So I would need to be able to see 2
photos side by side and have some sort of form entry capability so I
update the Base field with a code which identifies the individuals. Q3 -
how simple is it to combine functionality of Base and draw /impress (not
really sure which is best suited or might need parts of both)?

This is last on my list as if you can help me to manage the first 3
points I can then worry about this.

An interesting application. "Camera Base is licensed under the GNU
General Public License version 3". The VBA is not protected because of
this. It utilizes several other open source software programs. It has
clean user interface, nothing fancy, but well done for usability. Code
appears to be quite readable for the non "hardcore naming coders". Most
of the code could probably be ported to StarBasic/OOo without too much
effort. Whether Base could provide all the functionality, I do not
know; I have not worked that much it Base. I use Access97 at work, but
code is not one of my strengths.
