Hello Joel,

SMS is supported over TDMA, CDMA networks as well as GSM networks (if
there is coverage). SMS Is not supported in all its features (such as
reversed billing, ACKs, etc). But you can setup simple sms based
services. I have been succesfully deployed an SMS service in the US that
is even hosted from the Netherlands with a GSM (Wavecom) modem.

Good luck!

Kind regards,

Edwin Poot

Subject: Using Kannel in United States

I am currently using Kannel in Australia (with a Wavecom GSM modem) for
SMS and things have been working well for over a year.

I have now got a customer in America and I need the ability to send and
receive SMS messages in the United States.

I don't know a whole lot about the US mobile network, but I know that
they dont use GSM for SMS. I think they use TDMA?

Is there anyone who is using Kannel in the US who could recommend a
phone/modem that works for SMS?

Alternatively does anyone know of any products (besides Kannel) that I
could use to accomplish the same result.

Thanks

Joel
