Further to the discussion, The GSM market in the US has grown to 29% from a mearge 5% 2-3 years earlier and it is picking up fast.
This is the first time that US is catching up with the rest of the world's technology standards, normally its rest of the world following US:)) Regards Gagan -----Original Message----- From: Navjot Singh [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, July 30, 2003 10:44 AM To: Gagan Chadha; 'Pierluigi Campidoglio'; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: Using Kannel in United States Further to comments by Gagan and Pierluigi, i would like to add that slowly Amrican operators are showing the trend shift towards GSM networks. I guess i heard of operator in US migrating to GSM around 2 months back. Guess the name was Cincinnati wireless, though not sure(someone pls confirm). So, you can use kannel as long as GSM modem is connected to network and i am sure GSM networks are there in US. I guess the idea is simply to build EDGE/GPRS services on top of GSM base. regards Navjot Singh |-----Original Message----- |From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Behalf Of |Gagan Chadha |Sent: Tuesday, July 29, 2003 9:17 PM |To: 'Pierluigi Campidoglio'; [EMAIL PROTECTED] |Subject: RE: Using Kannel in United States | | |Hello All |SMS sending or receiving via a GSM modem absolutely depends on the SIM |card that you using, the operator who has provided you the SIM card, if |he has tie-ups placed in the US with the GSM and other operators, SMS |sending works perfect. |You need to make sure from your SIM operator whether sending SMS to US |networks both GSM and TDMA/CDMA is supported or not. | |Kannel just facilities sending/receiving messages, which could be via a |GSM modem or SMS-C. | |Any comments? | |Regards, |Gagan | |-----Original Message----- |From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf |Of Pierluigi Campidoglio |Sent: Tuesday, July 29, 2003 5:27 PM |To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] |Subject: Re: Using Kannel in United States | | |Hi Edwin, |I suppose, anyway, that kannel does not support SMS messaging thru' a |TDMA/CDMA modem/phone...
